9. Advertising Aspects

This section provides information on regulations on advertising and if there are any restrictions or approval processes.
9.1 Applicable Advertising Regulation
General Food [1]
- Should be responsible for the information provided, truthful, honest, not misleading, and similar to the registered product label by BPOM, as per Article 3.
- Should contain approved information (as registered), as per Article 3.
- Should be accompanied in Bahasa Indonesia, hence the original language or English can be used if there is already information written in Bahasa Indonesia, as per Article 4.
- When it is with a contest, needs to be accompanied by words to show terms and conditions, as per Article 7.
- Should be accompanied by the community message, for example: ‘check before you buy’, ‘read the label before buying’, as per Article 8.
- When the product has a specific warning, it needs to be accompanied by a sentence referring to the warning on the label, as per Article 9.

9.2 Specific Restrictions on Advertising
General Food [1]
- Presenting a food product as a drug is not allowed.
- Use of pictures/illustrations of a national hero or historical monuments in an improper way is not allowed.
- Quoting the advice or recommendation by a Health Care Professional, Laboratory Person, Government, Professional Organization, Religious Figure, Teacher, or Public Officials, is not allowed.
- Another misleading statement as per Article 14.

Advertising of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in mass media. [2,3].
Mass media is advertising media that targets a general and wide range of audiences [1] (e.g. television commercials, social media, and advertising spots in the public place).
