    8.5 Food Contact Materials

    All food contact packaging must comply with the Decree No. 476 of 7 July 2017 on the adoption of Technical Regulation on the Safety of Food Contact Packaging [1].

    The set of controlled substances (i.e. their migration limits) in food contact materials depends on the material. For example, for ABS plastic material, the controlled substances include: toluene, benzaldehyde, benzene, etc. [1]

    The full list of materials and the relevant migration limits are provided in Annex 2 to Decree No. 476 of 7 July 2017 on the adoption of Technical Regulation on the Safety of Food Contact Packaging. This technical regulation does not itself prescribe any testing methods. 

    The list of testing methods and other regulatory standards and norms necessary to evaluate compliance with the TR on the Safety of Food Contact Packaging is provided in the List of Regulatory Norms and Test Methods Necessary to Evaluate Products for Conformity with the Technical Regulation on the Safety of Food Contact Packaging, adopted on 7 May 2018, No. TR-10. [2]
