6.3 Other Notes or Requirements

Product Registration

No pre-approval/registration is required. However, it is required for any person/company to register a food business in order to manufacture, import, process, store, distribute, or sell any article of food or food ingredient in Bangladesh in accordance with the Food Safety Act, 2013 [2].

6.4 Manufacturing Site Registration

Category

Food

This is not required for Foreign Manufacturers but any food industry in Bangladesh must have a manufacturing site registered with a license for the food processing industry - Business identification number (BIN).

6.4.1 Standard/Rules for Manufacturing Site

Local manufacturers should have the BSTI Certification Mark (CM) license [3] and Packaging commodity rules compliance for their finished product/food.

This CM license can be achieved in the process map illustrated in [3] but is not required for a mixture of food additives (i.e., intermediate product) that is sold for further processing. CM if needed is the responsibility of the importer and the Bangladeshi manufacturer.
