This section provides information on labeling requirements and the label approval process.
4.1 Mandatory Labeling Parameters
General Feed
Labeling requirements for imported products [1]:
- Name and address of the manufacturer.
- Trademark of the product. In the case of having it, the intention to incorporate it into the trade name must be expressly stated in the draft label. If the intention to incorporate the trademark into the trade name is not expressly stated, the trade name must be conformed with no mention of it.
- Trade name of the product.
- Type of feed (extruded, pelleted, blended, etc.).
- Classification of the product granted by SENASA (this must coincide with the classification described in the sanitary registration approved by the authority).
- Species and categories for which it is indicated.
- List of ingredients.
- Proximate composition (indication of the guarantee levels).
- Indications for use.
- Dosage.
- Expiry date. The data to be expressed shall vary according to the following scheme:
- The day and month for products with a maximum shelf life of up to three months.
- The month and year for products with a shelf life of more than three months.
- Importing and/or trading company: name, place of business, and official registration number.
- Sanitary registration number ("Product registered in SENASA Nº....").
- The statement "Product for exclusive use in animal feed".
- Net weight.
- Consignment or serial number.
- Storage conditions of the product.
- Restrictions, contra-indications, precautions, warnings, and pre-feeding period (if applicable).
- SENASA logo.
- Any legend, graphics, writings, or images that will appear on the final label.
Note: The company must submit additional information if the Registration Area deems it necessary.
Category
The category “Nutritional Additive” should comply with Section 4.1 on “General Feed” above. Additionally, the below applies:
Specifically for additives [1,2], the proximate composition, depending on the product, must consider the following:
- Minerals: to be expressed for macro-elements in % w/w of the product to be registered and for trace elements in ppm of the product to be registered.
- Vitamins: to be expressed as I.U., milligrams, or micrograms, as appropriate, per kilogram of the product to be registered.
- Amino acids: the quantity of amino acids to be expressed per kilogram of the product to be registered.
- Other additives (flavorings, colorings, etc.): the quantity of each of them to be expressed per kilogram of the product to be registered.

“Nutritional Additive (Amino acid)” should comply with Section 4.1 on “General Feed” above. Additionally, the below applies:
Guarantee levels must consider the declaration of amino acids as follows [1,2]:
- Amino acids: Express the quantity of amino acids per kilogram of the product to be registered.
4.2 Languages
The information contained in the texts of the labels must be in Spanish, and additionally, may be written in other languages [1].
4.3 Mandatory Information on Stickers
The use of stickers is not described in the regulation [1]. After contacting authorities from SENASA, they mentioned that the use of stickers is NOT allowed in animal feeds.
4.4 Product Legal Name
There is no product legal name for the overall category of "General Feed". Refer to the below section for info on product legal names for specific products.

The potential legal name would be Nutritional Additive - Amino Acid. However, it is worth remembering that the legal denomination of the product is assigned by SENASA during the evaluation of the sanitary registration application; and the legal name/classification of the product must coincide with the one granted by SENASA (described in the sanitary registration).
4.5 Product-specific Labeling Statements
There are no product-specific labeling statements for the overall category of “General Feed”. Refer to the below category and product-specific labeling statements.

4.6 Authority Approval
General Feed
Yes, the product label needs to be approved by the authority - Coordination of Animal Feed Registration of the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA).
- Cost: There is no extra fee for the label assessment. The fee will correspond to the sanitary registration application. The current fee for sanitary registration is 36,030.8 Argentinean Pesos.
- Timeline: SENASA RESOLUTION 594/2015 [1] establishes a minimum of 60 days for the resolution of the sanitary registration, that is the moment when the label is assessed and approved by the authority. SENASA issued the Tarrif Manual [3] in which it is clarified that this procedure has a duration of 180 working days, which can be reduced to 60 working days, but will generate additional costs (not described in the tariff manual).

The category of “Nutritional Additive” should comply with the above requirements in Section 4.6 on authority approval for “General Feed”.
