4.1 Mandatory Labeling Parameters

Category

Bakery Products

A. Prepackaged 

Labeling requirements for “bakery products” (including donuts) are also set out in Special Technical Regulation MTR.008-2020 on the Safety of Bakery and Pasta Products adopted by Decree No. MTR.008-2020 [1].

Consumer packaging of bakery products must contain the following information: 

  1. Product name
  2. Name and address (location) of the manufacturer and (if different) – the actual production address
  3. Name and address of the organization authorized by the manufacturer to deal with consumer requests and complaints (if applicable)
  4. Net weight of a packaging unit (in g or kg) or net weight of one product (in g or kg) and the quantity in each packaging unit
  5. Product Composition
  6. List of food additives, biologically active additives (e.g. vitamins)
  7. Nutritional values
  8. Vitamin content (for products enriched with vitamins)
  9. Salt and sugar content according to the recipe
  10. Date of manufacture and date of packaging
  11. Durability period and storage conditions
  12. The information that the product must not be frozen after defreezing (for frozen bakery products)
  13. Use and preparation recommendations (if necessary)
  14. Name of the document in accordance with which the product has been made (e.g., a technical regulation or a standard)
  15. Information on conformity assessment of the product

Transport packaging of bakery products must contain: 

  1. Product name
  2. Name and address (location) of the manufacturer and (if different) – the actual production address
  3. Name and address of the organization authorized by the manufacturer to deal with consumer requests and complaints (if applicable)
  4. Net weight of a packaging unit (in g or kg) or net weight of one product (in g or kg) and the quantity in each packaging unit
  5. Batch number and/or shift number
  6. Date of manufacture
  7. Durability period and storage conditions
  8. Name of the document in accordance with which the product has been made (e.g., a technical regulation or a standard)
  9. Information on conformity assessment of the product

Transport packaging of bakery products must also contain the following manipulation symbols: “Fragile. Careful”, “Keep away from moisture”, and “Temperature restriction”. [1]

If the manufacturer of bakery products is not acting also as the packager, exporter, importer, or distributor, then the label must also contain the names and addresses of the packer, the importer, the exporter (if applicable), and the distributor. [1]

B. NOT prepackaged

Unpackaged bakery products must be supplied to the place of sale with an information leaflet that must contain the following information [1]:

  1. Product name
  2. Name and address (location) of the manufacturer and (if different) – the actual production address
  3. Name and address of the organization authorized by the manufacturer to deal with consumer requests and complaints (if applicable)
  4. Net weight of a packaging unit (in g or kg) or net weight of one product (in g or kg) and the quantity in each packaging unit
  5. Product Composition
  6. List of food additives, biologically active additives (e.g. vitamins)
  7. Nutritional values
  8. Vitamin content (for products enriched with vitamins)
  9. Salt and sugar content according to the recipe
  10. Date of manufacture and date of packaging
  11. Sale period (rather than durability period) and storage conditions

Product

Fried Bakery Products - Donuts

A. Prepackaged 

Fried bakery products, such as Donuts, must follow the requirements for all bakery products (see "Category" above) and the requirements for General Foods as explained in Section 4.1 of the "General Foods" guidebook for Uzbekistan. However, additional separate requirements are set out in the voluntary standard Fried Bakery Products. Doughnuts. Technical Requirements (O'z DSt 3129:2017) [2].

The standard sets out the following labeling requirements for donuts:

  1. Product name
  2. Name and location of the manufacturer and the name and address of the actual production place (if different)
  3. Trademark (if available)
  4. Net weight (g)
  5. Date of manufacture, including hour, day, month, and year
  6. Durability period
  7. Information on conformity assessment
  8. Storage conditions
  9. Product composition, including allergens
  10. The name of the standard (O'z DSt 3129:2017)
  11. Barcode (if necessary)
  12. Nutritional values per 100 g of product
  13. The following text (if the product is to be sold in Uzbekistan), meaning “produced in Uzbekistan”:

B. NOT prepackaged

According to the standard [2], retail sale of non-prepackaged donuts can only be conducted if the following information is provided to the consumers [2]:

  1. Product name
  2. Net weight, g
  3. Durability period (h)
  4. Product Composition
  5. Date of manufacture: hour, day, month, and year
  6. Storage conditions
  7. The name of the standard (O'z DSt 3129:2017)
  8. Nutritional values per 100 g of the product

This information must be communicated by the manufacturer to the retail organization, and the retail organization must communicate it to the consumers.

4.2 Languages

Follows the requirements outlined in Section 4.2 of the "General Foods" guidebook for Uzbekistan.

4.3 Mandatory Information on Stickers

Category

Bakery Products

Marking of consumer packaging of bakery products must be provided on the packaging itself and/or on the label (including leaflet, sticker, or tag). [1]

Marking of transport packaging of bakery products must be provided on the transport packaging and/or on the label (including leaflet, sticker, or tag) or must be contained in the documentation accompanying the products. [1]
