7. Importation Requirements

This section provides information on the importation process (shipment, customs, licenses required, and test requirements).
7.1 Ingredient Importation Procedure
The first import takes 7-10 days and the cost is calculated per product, not quantity (KRW 5,000 per product for new import, KRW 2,000 per product for the next import).
7.2 Ingredients Requirements
The documents to submit when importing cosmetic ingredients to the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association [1]:
- Standard customs clearance forecast report: Electronic document (EDI or XML) [1].
- Business Registration: submit only for the first time or when information has changed.
- Cosmetic South Korean Manufacturing distributor registration certificate.
- CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) export certificate: this only applies if it contains CITES processed ingredients [2].
- MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): mixture materials
- Manufacturing certificate: bulk materials
- Certificate of BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy) or TSEs (transmissible spongiform encephalopathies): original documents (hard copy) [3].
- Approval for importing ingredients that may contain TALC (Ministry of Environment): submitted only when importing talc ingredients [4].
