8.1 Product Notification

Except for food obtained through modern biotechnology, all other food products are not required to be registered with the Malaysia Food Safety and Quality Division (FSQD) [1].

8.4 Manufacturing Site Registration

In the guidelines regarding food import into Malaysia from the Ministry of Health (Food Safety & Quality Division)(FSQD), there is no mention of the requirements for food production facilities in the exporting country. However, for products derived from animals (including milk and milk products), the establishments are required to be registered with Malaysia's Department of Veterinary Services (DVS). Refer to specific product guidebooks (i.e. infant formula) for product-specific information.

8.4.1 Standard/Rules for Manufacturing Site

There are no standards/rules for manufacturing sites for the overall category of “General Foods”.

8.4.2 Other Notes or Requirements for Manufacturing Site Registration

The approval period for the processing plant is valid for a period of one year. Even if the validity period of an approved establishment is valid for 1 (one) year, it may be extended for an additional 2 (two) more years subject to the reports on the Annual Performance Evaluation. A review audit shall be carried out on the third year of approval before the expiry date [2].
