8.1 Microbiological Standards

The Standards for Microbial Contaminants in Food [1] cover food microorganisms and their toxins or metabolites, excluding fungi and their toxins, and define the maximal limit in specific food.

8.2 Contaminants and Heavy Metals

The Sanitation Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food [2] covers the substance not intentionally added to food, which present in food as a result of production or pollution during the manufacturing, processing, preparation, packaging, transportation, storage, or selling, or as a result of environmental control. It does not include induct fragments, hairs, and other extraneous matters. 


Different limits apply to different foods.

8.3 Pesticides

The Standards for Pesticide Residues in Food [3] define the maximum residue limits of authorized pesticides. No residue shall be detected for the pesticides prohibited for use by the agriculture authority (Appendix Table 4), unless other regulations apply.

Note: Most limits apply to the crops.

8.4 Veterinary Standards

The Standards for Veterinary Drug Residue Limits in Foods [4] apply to animal-origin food; listed veterinary drugs not permitted to be used shall only apply to imported products.


Different limits apply to different food- animal parts and products such as milk and eggs.


Veterinary drugs not listed in the Table in the standards must not be detected.
