6. Registration Processes

This section provides information on any product notification or registration and manufacturing site registration processes.

6.1 Product Notification

None. See Section 6.2 below for product registration. 

6.2 Product Registration

General Food

Packaged processed food with 7 days of shelf life or more, should be registered in BPOM [1]. The required documents are: [1] 

  1. Ingredients list (do not apply for single ingredient) 
  2. Manufacturing/production process 
  3. Production code information 
  4. Shelf life information 
  5. Label design 
  6. Raw materials specification 
  7. Certificate of analysis for final product (e.g. food safety parameters) 
  8. Certificate of analysis for nutritional analysis of the product 
  9. Label translation (for imported food) 
  10. Picture of the product (for imported food) 
  11. SNI (Indonesia National Standard) certificate, if mandatory stipulated. 
  12. RMP (Risk Management Program) certificate (only for locally produced food that is categorized as high-medium risk and high-risk general food). For imported food, it should be Good Food Safety Practice documents (GMP/HACCP/ISO 22000 certificate).
  13. Health certificate/free sale certificate (for imported food).  

It is conducted via https://ereg-rba.pom.go.id/. The user needs to be registered (can be a local importer or distributor). 

Cost is IDR 300,000 (~19.5 USD) – IDR 3,000,000/product (~195 USD) [2]; timeline is 30 working days after documents are completed and correct (label approval process is included in this registration timeline, cost and timeline depend on the food category). Note the actual registration process could take longer. [1,2]

6.4 Manufacturing Site Registration

General Food

No manufacturing site registration. 

On product registration documents, it is required to state the name and address of the manufacturing site [1]. 

For local products, the GMP or RMP certificate will be required for product registration. There is a manufacturing site visit by BPOM to evaluate the site and issue a GMP or RMP certificate. 

For imported products, a GMP/HACCP/ISO 22000 certificate will be required for product registration. There is no manufacturing site registration or visit procedure for overseas manufacturers.

6.4.1 Standard/Rules for Manufacturing Site

General Food

  • GMP for local products: refer to Ministry of Industry Decree No. 75/M-IND/PER/7/2010 on Good Manufacturing Practices [3]. 
  • RMP for local products: refer to BPOM Decree No. 10 Year 2023 on Risk Management Program in Food Industry, for food for special dietary and medical uses and low acid canned food [4]. 
  • For imported products, a GMP/HACCP/ISO 22000 certificate from the origin country will be required.
