6.1 Product Notification

Category

Milk Products

According to Article 25 of the Livestock Product Sanitary Control Act [1] and Article 37 of the Enforcement Rule of Livestock Product Sanitary Control Act [2], the product manufacturing company must notify the product notification with product notification form and relevant documents to the permitted agency within before and after production. 

Documents that should be submitted include: 

  1. Product manufacturing notification according to Article 45 of the Enforcement Rule of Food Sanitation Act [3] 
  2. Explanatory statement of manufacturing process
  3. Statement of reason for setting an expiration date

Authority and notification method

  1. Authority: Basic local government
  2. Notifying method: In-person submission or electronic system reporting through Food Safety Country at https://www.foodsafetykorea.go.kr/main.do

Sterilized Milk (including liquid milk, low-fat milk)

6.4 Manufacturing Site Registration

Category

According to Article 30 of the Enforcement Rule of Livestock Product Sanitary Control Act [2]:

1. Authority: Wide area local government

2. Process of manufacturing site registration: same as outlined in Section 6.4 of the "General Foods" guidebook for South Korea.

3. Documents required

  1. Application form according to attached form No. 16 under Article 30 of the Enforcement Rule of Livestock Product Sanitary Control Act or electronic document [2]
  2. Workshop facilities and layout
  3. Certificate of hygiene education
  4. Health certificate
  5. Certificate of water quality test (excluding when using tap water)
  6. Food type to be manufactured and manufacturing introductions  

4. Cost: 28,000 Korean won

5. Cost of license tax: 27,000 Korean won 

6. Duration: 3 days

All Milk Products must be produced in a HACCP-certified factory according to Table No. 2 under Article 6-1 of the Enforcement Rule of Livestock Product Sanitary Control Act [2].
