Some customary names are defined in the French dictionary [1] such as pommes noisettes, pommes dauphines, pomme duchesse. Hash-brown is commonly known as ‘galette de pomme de terre’ if the product has a round shape or as ‘rösti':

Translated in English:

‘Pommes noisettes’, potato pieces, or potato mash in the form of hazelnut and pan-fried.

Translated in English:

‘Pomme dauphine’, a mixture of boiled potato pulp and choux pastry, prepared in a fritter and fried.

Translated in English:

‘Pommes Duchesse’, mashed potatoes, with added butter and eggs, pushed onto a pastry bag and browned in the oven.

Translated in English:

‘Galette’, flat and round-shaped culinary preparation, made of flour or potato, which is cooked in the oven or pan-fried: Galette de pommes de terre.

Translated in English:

‘Rösti’, a Swiss specialty made of grated potato or fine sliced potato and pan-fried.

Frozen Cheese Snack

For the use of the name cheese ingredient in the product name, this legally defined ingredient must comply with the definition defined by Decree nº2007-628 of 27 April 2007 [2]. In addition, the Annex defines the criteria for using specific French cheese names (refer to Section 3.2 of this guidebook).
