3.0 Compositional Aspects

This section provides the compositional requirements for the food category and/or food products in scope and information on permitted nutrients, ingredients, and additives.

3.1 Composition Requirements

There are no composition requirements for the overall category of “Special Purpose Foods”.

Refer to Section 3.1 of “3.0 Compositional Aspects” of specific product Guidebooks for product-specific requirements.

3.2 Raw Material Requirements

Except as otherwise provided in the Regulations, permitted added nutrients may be added to any food. Manufacturers shall refer to the Twelfth Schedule for the list of permitted added nutrients. [1] [2]

There are no raw material requirements for the overall category of “Special Purpose Foods”.

3.3 Fortification
