This section provides the compositional requirements for the food category and/or food products in scope and information on permitted nutrients, ingredients, and additives.

3.1 Composition Requirements

Food supplements composition is governed by:

  1. MOPH Notifications, No. 293 B.E. 2548 (2005) [1]
  2. MOPH Notification No. 182 B.E. 2541 (1998) [2]
  3. MOPH Notification No. 392 B.E. 2561 (2018) [3]

It shall be noted that there are no specific composition criteria other than the requirement for vitamins or minerals.

3.2 Raw Material Requirements

There are no raw material requirements specific to “Foods supplements”. It should comply with Section 3.2 of the “General Foods” guidebook for Thailand. 

3.3 Fortification

Vitamin or mineral content shall not be less than 15% and not exceed the maximum specified in the nutrient list for Thai Recommended Daily Intakes for the age of 6 years and up (Thai RDI) for food supplements whose purpose is to give vitamins or minerals.

For vitamins or minerals which are not prescribed, the Food and Drug Administration shall prescribe them according to the approval of the Food Committee [4].
