  • Formulas for infants refer to the breast milk substitute specially manufactured to meet, by itself, the nutritional needs of infants during their first months of life until the introduction of weaning or corresponding complementary feeding.
  • Follow-up formula refers to the food intended to be used as a liquid component of the weaning diet for infants from the sixth month and for young children.

Definition

Infants, children up to twelve months of age.

Formulas for infants, the breast milk substitute specially manufactured to meet, by itself, the nutritional needs of infants during their first months of life until the introduction of weaning or corresponding complementary feeding.

Specifications/Target Age

Infants from 0 up to 12 months of age. 

Additional Information

Infant formulas, products based on cow's or other mammalian milk or other edible components of plant or animal origin, including fish, that are considered suitable for feeding infants.

2) Follow-up Formula [1][2]

Definition

Follow-up formula, the food intended to be used as a liquid component of the weaning diet for infants from the sixth month and for young children. 

Specifications/Target Age

Infants from 6 months and young children (12 to 36 months).

Additional Information

Follow-up formulas, to products made with cow's milk or other animals or with other constituents of animal or vegetable origin, intended to be used to complement or replace breast milk in the weaning diet for infants from the sixth month, when they are fed with breast milk or from four months when they are fed with infant formulas, or when the weight of the infant is greater than 6 kg, as well as for young children.
